The Women in Art Prize, one of the UK’s leading platforms for celebrating female artists, will open its 2025 submissions on International Women’s Day, March 8th, 2025. This symbolic launch date reinforces the prize’s commitment to amplifying women’s voices in the contemporary art world.
This year’s prize program offers an unprecedented scope of opportunities, with over £10,000 in prize money across multiple categories. From the £1,500 main awards in Painting, Photography, and Sculpture to specialized recognition for emerging talents and artists from diverse backgrounds, the prize continues to evolve and expand its support for women artists.
Notable opportunities include:
- Solo exhibition at Cass Art with £250 worth of art materials
- Exhibition space at the prestigious Zebra One Gallery, Hampstead
- Feature spread in Fabric Magazine, reaching 50,000 monthly readers
- Booth opportunity at Forge Art Fair (November 2025)
- Exhibition at Square Feet Gallery, Marylebone
- International Women’s Day Auction participation through Art on a Postcard
The Susan Angoy Award (£1,500) returns to support artists of African and Caribbean heritage, while the Tim May Memorial Prize (£1,500) continues its mission to nurture emerging talents. New for 2025, we’re excited to announce additional opportunities including the Hosking House residency for artists over 40 and dedicated prizes for young artists.
International artists are encouraged to participate through our dedicated Overseas Prize (£1,000), which includes professional mentoring and media coverage opportunities.
The culmination of the 2025 prize will be marked by a Private View and Award Ceremony at The British Library, celebrating the achievements of women artists across all categories.
Entries will be accepted from March 8th until [closing date]. Artists are encouraged to submit early, as space is limited.
