Susan Angoy

I am passionate about promoting gender, racial equality and representation within the art world and am honoured to be a judge and funder of Women in Art. In this capacity, I support initiatives that celebrate and elevate the work of female artists, creating platforms for their voices and visions to be seen and heard.

In my earlier career as a regeneration and development specialist, both within the UK and in the international arena, I saw the potential of art and the creative industries to be catalytic in the development process. This is an approach I bring to Women in Art.

My charity Trustee and funder role allows me to extend my impact beyond the realm of the arts. I have a deep-seated belief in the power of community development and in helping individuals realise their potential within a supportive environment. I am thus privileged to serve as a Trustee of the Topsy Foundation, a transformative, holistic initiative addressing the needs of rural communities in South Africa.

My commitment to education and sound governance is illustrated through my involvement with the University of Sussex, where I serve on the Governing Council. This position enables me to contribute to the strategic direction and governance of the institution, ensuring that it remains a beacon of excellence in education, research and innovation.

I am dedicated to mentoring the next generation of leaders. As a Patron and mentor for The Amos Bursary, I provide strategic leadership to the Bursary. Through mentoring, I guide and support young individuals of African and Caribbean heritage, helping them navigate their academic and professional journeys with confidence and resilience.

The tapestry of my professional and philanthropic journey is woven with threads of creativity, leadership, and a steadfast commitment to empowering others. As an author and songwriter, I strive to craft narratives and melodies that resonate with diverse audiences, capturing the essence of human experiences and emotions.

The intersection of my work in the arts, education and community development is a testament to my belief in the transformative power of creativity, mentorship and philanthropy.
